Lujiazui Roundabout Walking Bridge
This massive elevated ring bridge hovers about five and a half metres above the busy traffic circle at the heart of Lujiazui, right at the foot of the Oriental Pearl Tower. Completed ahead of the 2010 World Expo, it was built to separate pedestrians from the heavy vehicle flows where Century Avenue, Lujiazui Ring Road, and Lujiazui West Road converge.
The walkway links directly into Lujiazui Metro Station, the Oriental Pearl Tower, Super Brand Mall, and the IFC Mall, with extended footbridges continuing east toward Jin Mao Tower, the Shanghai World Financial Center, and Shanghai Tower. Circling the ring offers unobstructed views looking straight up into the Oriental Pearl Tower and across the canyon of modern skyscrapers, particularly at night when the towers are illuminated.
Its sweeping curves, stainless-steel railings, and surrounding high-rises give the walkway a distinctly futuristic atmosphere, which led director Spike Jonze to film scenes here for his 2013 science fiction film Her.
