Over 20 years in Shanghai, China

My story with China began in 2005, when I arrived in Shanghai with a backpack and a dream of delving deeper into the worlds of tai chi and qigong. What started as a few months of study became a life journey that has now lasted more than two decades.

Over the years I have travelled China from end to end, and come to know it through everyday life as well. I built deep connections with local people, listened to stories you won't find in any guidebook, and discovered China through the eyes of the people who live there — in the fascinating meeting point between ancient traditions and the pace of modern life.

But no matter how far I travelled, I always came back to Shanghai and its neighbouring provinces. Over the years I made the city my home and formed some of the deepest, longest-lasting relationships of my life. Here, China changed from a distant, mysterious land into a familiar home, close to my heart.

Today I guide travellers through the streets and lanes of Shanghai, among the tea plantations, and through the villages and water towns around it. Alongside guiding, I help people planning a trip to China build an itinerary that suits them and find the travel services they need.
