Located on the 118th floor of the Shanghai Tower in Lujiazui, the Top of Shanghai Observatory sits 546 meters above the ground inside China's tallest building. Rising to a total height of 632 meters, the twisting skyscraper stands alongside the Jin Mao Tower and the Shanghai World Financial Center at the heart of Pudong's financial district.

The visit begins on the basement level, where exhibits explain the engineering behind the tower's wind-resistant design alongside the history of the world's tallest buildings. From there, high-speed elevators ascend to the 118th floor in about 55 seconds, travelling at speeds of up to 18 meters per second.

The indoor observation deck provides 360-degree views through floor-to-ceiling glass panels, looking down onto the Oriental Pearl Tower, the bends of the Huangpu River, and the historic buildings along the Bund. The floor also houses interactive screens, a cafe, and a gift shop, with stairs connecting to additional viewing space on the 119th floor.
