We are standing at Baiyun Guan, the White Cloud Taoist Temple, a well-known Taoist site here in Shanghai’s old city.
This temple belongs to the Qingwei Pai, which translates literally as the school of Pure Subtlety in Taoism. This tradition has its roots in classical ritual traditions and thunder magic practices.
Inside, you will find several sacred Taoist statues that date back to the Ming Dynasty. Take a close look at them as you walk through, as they have been preserved here across centuries right in the heart of the old city.
